OUR 7th ANNUAL BOTTOMS UP CUP 5K: JULY 14th 2024.
The Bottoms Up Cup 5k race is named after Stephen Bottoms, who was an original member of Washington Running Club before the club reformed in 2014.
A challenging, undulating route round Washington. The run starts on the C2C cycle path which leads round to the trails of Princess Anne Park. Finishing about less than half a mile from the start next to St Robert's school.
There’s a mixture of terrain and all abilities are welcome.
Course records

Female - Rebecca Cairns, 20:58, 2021
Washington Running Club host an annual 5k race aptly named The Bottoms Up Cup, running through the heart of the iconic Princess Anne Park in the centre of Washington on a Sunday morning during the summer.
Registration and parking are held at St Robert of Newminster School, Fatfield.
The race is a memorial race in memory of one of the original Washington Running Club's members, Stephen Bottoms. We will be having an Events Village where people can buy raffle tickets for prizes with all proceeds going to charity.
The course has been changed slightly over the years to a faster/less congested route but it wouldn’t be a Washington Running Club event without a few naughty hills and some trail (road shoes are suitable though as most of the race will be on pavement).
The fastest male and female runners (as well as over 40s category) will be presented with a trophy at the end of the race.
There is also a 1 mile fun run available with entries on day being £2.50 and will be held after the main race.
Come and join us for a superb mornings running with our friendly club!
