Washington Running Club host an annual 5k race aptly named 'The Bottoms Up Cup', running through the heart of the iconic Princess Anne Park in the centre of Washington at 10am on a Sunday 5th July 2020 followed by the junior mile at 11am.
Registration and parking are held at St Roberts of Newminster School, Fatfield, parking will be charged at £1 per car and registration is open from 9am within the Bloodwise village (stalls and raffles).
The race is a memorial race in memory of one of the original Washington Running Club's members, Stephen Bottoms. Money will be raised on the day for Bloodwise who have helped several existing members so an excellent charity linked closely to many at the Club. We will be having an Events Village where people can buy raffle tickets for prizes with all proceeds going to Bloodwise.
The course has been changed slightly over the years to a faster/less congested route but it wouldn’t be a Washington Running Club event without a few naughty hills and some trail (road shoes are suitable though as most of the race will be on pavement).
The fastest male and female runners (as well as over 40s category) will be presented with a trophy at the end of the race.
The cost is £9/£11 unaffiliated and £2.50 for the junior fun run. We will be offering a FREE goodie bag this year with medals for the juniors.
Come and join us for a superb mornings running with our friendly club!
