sessions & training
Thursday nights are all about tempo! Meeting at 7pm at Columbia Grange School, the session is shorter harder intervals including sprint training, hill work, Fartlek training etc etc. This type of work is tough but really helps your running, don’t worry though you work to your own ability and we always keep it fun. The group will be split into smaller groups with a dedicated Club Run Leader to suit each group ability. Don't panic, there's a group for everyone.
We are blessed in Washington with miles and miles of beautiful trail runs and we try and make the most of them. Sunday runs offer a more relaxed and social session starting at 9am fromColumbia Grange School with several distance/pace options so you will always find something at your level. Several different distance/pace groups with a dedicated Club Run Leader with one group doing a longer distance for those training for a half marathon.
Although not an official club session, our local Parkrun is at Chester-le-Street Riverside and is a great flat, fast 5k, 9am every Saturday morning. You need to register on the parkrun website and print off a barcode to register a time. You will almost certainly see a club member participating so keep your eyes peeled for the club vest. We do a C25K course annually in which you slowly build up your running and complete the course down at Riverside.
