Wow, another great evening for our club. WRC were the most highly represented club at the George Ogle Memorial Race with 35 members signed up to run and the race did not disappoint.
The 5.5 mile circuit packed in paths, trails and fields with several punchy climbs as well as a seemingly never ending run along the old railway line before turning towards the finish. All in glorious sunshine with a free buffet of flies to fill your mouth and eyes on route.
The finish line was bathed in blue with Helen Clark the 1st Female, four men in the top 10, two women in the top 10 and the club winning the Mixed Team prize. Ashleigh Atkinson even performed on course heroics, stopping to help a fallen runner.
Brilliant to see so many members supporting a local race (I’m sure the Grand Prix points helped!) and all in all a fantastic reflection of what WRC is about. The compliments from other clubs are flowing in about how well represented we are at races these days, and what a lovely bunch we are too (obviously).
