Important Information for Runners

Dear Runner

Thank you for entering the Bottoms Up Cup race.  It is a good run set in and around Washington’s Princess Anne Park.  The course is the same as last year, one lap, not flat, on good paths and trail, and is 5K in distance.

The main race takes place on Sunday 7thJuly 2019 with a prompt 10.00am start, with the juniors race scheduled for an 11.00am start.  Anyone under the age of 16 can run the juniors race, and adults can accompany the younger runners round their one mile course.

Registration opens at 9am within St.Robert of Newminster School, based on Biddick Lane, Washington NE38 8AF. Parking facilities are available at the school for a fee of £1 per car, which will go to Bloodwise, our chosen race charity.  It would also assist if runners could car share wherever possible.

Registration will close at 9.45am and on the day entries will be available for £10, until the race is full. Junior entries are on the day only, for £2.50.  There will be a separate registration desk for juniors, with their race starting at 11am.

Hot and cold drinks, cakes and other goodies will be available from the Bloodwise stall on the day, and they will also be holding a charity raffle with lots of fabulous prizes. These include 2 First Class East Coast rail tickets courtesy of LNER, free race entry from Trail Outlaws, a free massage courtesy of Sports Therapy North East plus lots of other great prizes.

Qualified first aid will be in attendance. Please ensure medical details are filled in on the back of your number. In the interests of health and safety no one will be permitted to run with headphones as the course is narrow in places and people need to hear what’s going on around them.

A presentation will take place as soon as possible after the race with trophies presented to the winners of senior and veteran male and female categories and also to the Juniors, both Under 8 and Over 8 boy and girl.

We hope everyone enjoys their races and helps in raising money for a worthwhile charity that is very close to our running club.
